Core Values
OUR CORE VALUES
The purpose of Hope City United is to share the hope of Jesus. We are Jesus people, not religious people. Methods will come and go, but our message will stay the same.
Everything we say, we say it with love. We apologize first. We forgive. We don’t carry offenses, or fail to be gracious even with those we disagree. God is love, and we pursue His nature by loving first.
Our heart is for ALL people. All people are loved by Jesus. We make no apologies about making an intentional effort to reach those far away from God. We desire to bring the broken home. There’s a seat for everyone at the table, and Jesus can save anybody.
Generosity is about giving more of ourselves and our resources than what is required. We see generosity as a privilege. We’re generous with our time, talents, and treasure. We go first in our giving. God has given richly towards us, and it’s our honor to give back to Him.
We are always going to do the best with what we have. We’re on time, engaged, and prepared. We don’t do things halfway. If we’re going to do it, it’s going to be to the best of our ability.
Worship is a lifestyle. Jesus commanded us to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We believe that worship is reflected in the posture of our heart toward God. Whether it is with our hands lifted in song, or in the leading of our families to be planted in God’s house, we know that we are created for His glory. May we be the people spoken of in 1 Peter 2:9 that “Show forth the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
We are vocal with our honor, meaning we are not stingy with our words. We submit to leadership and are thankful for spiritual authority. We understand that God places people in our lives for a purpose, and they are in various positions all around us. We honor and care for those God has called us to lead.
Nobody owes me anything. Jesus gave me everything.
